Shop / cuisinel cast iron dutch oven
Lodge's 4.5-Quart enameled Dutch oven is an excellent choice for cooking, marinating, refrigeration, and freezing. The porcelain enamel coating on cast iron allows for use on gas, electric, ceramic, and induction cooktops, as well as in the oven. However, it is not recommended for use on outdoor grills or over open outdoor flames, nor is it suitable for microwave use.
The cookware is cast from molten iron in individual sand molds, creating the Lodge Color Porcelain Enamel on Cast Iron. The porcelain surface eliminates the need to season cast iron, and the cast iron vessel offers superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating the bottom, sidewalls, and even the lid. The tightly fitting lid seals in moisture, and the excellent heat retention reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking.
Two layers of durable, glossy porcelain enamel are chip-resistant and easy to clean. The stainless steel lid knob is oven-safe up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, and the black rim on the pot is matte porcelain, not exposed cast iron. The hygienic porcelain enamel is non-reactive with food. While dishwasher-safe, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the cookware's original appearance.
Made in China, this Lodge Dutch oven is a seamless combination of form and function. It not only enhances the look of your kitchen but is also an enameled cast iron classic, perfect for preparing and serving memorable meals. You can broil, braise, bake, or roast your favorite dishes in the oven up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.
The porcelain enamel on cast iron is a result of a process where a particulate of glass, called frit, is applied to the cast iron vessel and then baked at temperatures between 1200 and 1400°F. The glass frit melts and fuses to the cast iron, forming a strong bond. This process makes the porcelain enamel on cast iron heat-tolerant and impervious to water and other consumables.
The smooth, porcelain-enameled interior minimizes sticking, promotes caramelization, and resists staining. While enameled cast iron is dishwasher-safe, hand washing with warm soapy water and a nylon scrub brush is recommended to keep the Dutch oven in excellent condition.
Lodge is a family-owned company founded in 1896, and they remain committed to environmental responsibility and community development. Their products are made with non-toxic, PFOA & PTFE-free materials, ensuring a safe and reliable cooking experience.
